Oh Christmas Tree

How lovely are the branches at Leighton’s Christmas tree farm in Mill-A, Washington.  This tree farm is only an hour from Portland and is surrounded by pine-covered misty hills.  The farm has been owned by the same family since 1956.  They have a variety of trees, including noble fir, and all for under $20.

Zephyr & Jim on the hunt for the perfect tree

We had an amazing time hiking up and down the hills searching for the perfect tree.  Larry, the owner, makes the tree cutting more festive by providing a bon fire and hot chocolate. Zephyr loved the experience, and our tree is beautiful.

After cutting you tree you must make your way across the river  to The Columbia Gorge Hotel.  It is beautifully decorated and they provide live Christmas music while you warm up next to the fire in the bar.  Children are welcome.  Or if you want to have the whole Skamania County experience, stop in Stevenson, Washington, home of Walking Man Brewery.  They have great hand crafted beer and yummy pizza.

Either way, if you are looking for a good Christmas tree and a fun outing, head to Leighton’s.  Larry is only there on the weekends but the tree farm is self-serve on the weekdays.

Merry Christmas Tree.
