My kids have never laughed so hard at a live theater production! It could be because Brunish Theater at Portland’5 is so intimate that they felt connected to the show. Or it could be because the actors were all kids, so they could relate. Whatever the reasons, they had a great time. I found the production to be totally adorable.
Both kids thought Pooh’s Tummy, a whole separate actor in costume, was hi-LAR-ious. Eric was also fairly enamored of the bees. They were awfully adorable. Whenever Pooh made any kind of declaration about hunny, they would buzz on stage with jazz hands and sing a little hunny jingle. Eric desperately wanted me to take their picture, but refused to pose with them. He said, “I never realized I was that in to Winnie the Pooh before this. I think it was the bees.”
Winnie the Pooh, produced by Metropolitan Performing Arts Academy, is playing at Brunish Theater through January 18. You can get tickets here, or check out MPAA’s other performances, classes and camps here.
