Dear My Two Papas,
I think that I’m very lucky that you both survived the war, and that you are such wonderful people. I know how much you love me because you tell me and show me, and that makes me feel lucky. You are incredibly kind and I feel lucky to have kind survivors as grandfathers. My Mama’s grandpa came back from war as a mean person. We are all lucky to not have you like that.
I’m glad that my Daddy never went to war. But I’m more [much more] that you came back. -Sincerely Anna
This is my Papa, my Mama’s Daddy. He’s the tall one.
This is my Papa, my Daddy’s Daddy. Here he is getting a Purple Heart, which is a medal.
PS: Writing a letter to a veteran is a fourth-grade homework assignment we got this week. You can read another letter here from a girl I know named Piper.
